Good memories, good friends, average marks, lots of torn school uniforms
playing pack to pack football, or basketball, at lunchtime, spent plenty
of time with Alex at the Esplanade in St Kilda, he was my best friend
at school. And there were Jack and Leon and others who I lost track off
as they went into tertiary education and I went to work in a bank and
then a drawing office. I got poorer and more foot-loose, they got more
respectable and richer and married, so ...  Fishing off St Kilda Pier,
cycling around, ogling delightful girls at swimming and netball
practice, suffering the pangs of pimply adolescence, good and mediocre
teachers, a school I enjoyed and fondly remember. A little miracle
happened a few years ago when Jacki Story tapped me on the shoulder in a
Bendigo Bank teller Machine queue and said - aren't you ? ... Yes, I
said , and you are Jacki ... We had a coffee and there you are,
reconnected in the wilds of Bairnsdale after 40+ years since Elwood High.
After many jobs and adventures and a family I live in a very remote
setting in East Gippsland as an invalid Pensioner of 63. I am relatively
fit and very happy, my daughter Elfi is 27 and still at uni (almost
finished a science degree)  and her half sister Ali is happily occupied
in horticulture, hospitality and whatelsenot. I manage five acres of
bush and home-made infrastructure. See my web site
http://www.lifesupportinternational.org - I am a very outspoken and
combative philosopher with a Christian core. Life is great and I am a
lucky man to be alive. Hail Elwood High and Melbourne in the balmy,
peaceful sixties! KS
